Bishopscourt Bed & Breakfast
Bishopscourt is a stately Victorian mansion (circa 1876) situated on half an acre of gardens in the heart of historic Bendigo . Bishopscourt has a rich and colourful history, built for eminent surgeon and scientist Dr. Paul Howard MacGillivray, and then spending 64 years as the Anglican Churches' Bishops Palace , before coming into private ownership in the 1980's. Bishopscourt now offers guests large QS bedrooms with open-fires, lounge chairs, TV, DVD and views over Bendigo . There are beautifully appointed bathrooms with claw-foot baths, and spacious guest areas including the lounge and billiard rooms, and the well stocked library. Guests may instead choose the contemporary luxury of our Mews Apartment, situated in our 130 y/o stables. This fully self-contained apartment offers all the luxury you would expect, including a surround sound DVD system, split-system heating and cooling , and high quality furnishings. When staying at Bishopscourt, guests are left with the dilemma of choosing between drinks by the fire, or on the balcony, overlooking the garden, fountain and surrounding heritage architecture, or taking a stroll to the nearby galleries, restaurants, café's and specialty stores in Bendigo's thriving Arts precinct.
